I moved to Austin in 2020. Like a lot of people, I got here during COVID. New city. Didn't know many people. Trying to figure out where I fit. At one point, I seriously thought about moving back to Kansas City. Instead, I made a different decision. I moved downtown.

The feeling of actually being in the middle of it all. That one move completely shifted my experience in Austin. Since then, I've lived in seven different places across the city. High rises. Luxury communities. Amenity heavy buildings. I didn't just tour them. I lived in them.

Along the way, I worked with apartment locators myself. And honestly? Most of them just sent over a list and booked a tour. There wasn't much thought behind it. No one asked how I wanted to live. No one told me which floor to avoid or which layout actually feels bigger than the square footage suggests. No one followed up after I moved in to make sure everything was right. I kept thinking: someone should do this differently.

More than once, someone looked at me and said, 'Are you an apartment locator?' Eventually, I decided to make it official. That's how Tell'em Gary Sent Yah started. Now I help people do more than find an apartment. I help them move into a place that actually fits the way they want to live. Every building I recommend is one I've either lived in, toured extensively, or know inside and out through the relationships I've built with the people who run them. This isn't a side hustle. I've lived in seven different properties across Austin, including high-rises, luxury communities, Rainey Street, downtown. I didn't just tour these buildings. I know what it's like to wake up there, walk to work from there, and decide whether it's worth renewing. That firsthand experience is something no listing page can give you.
I don't start with floor plans. I start with how you want to live. Do you want to walk to dinner? Work from a rooftop? Have a gym you'll actually use? I match you with buildings that fit your daily life, not just your budget and square footage.
From your first call to 90 days after move-in, I handle every detail. Tour logistics, lease negotiations, move-in inspections, even handyman and designer referrals. I treat every client like they're my only client.
I have personal relationships with leasing teams and property managers across Austin's top buildings. That means priority access to units, advance notice on specials, and the ability to advocate for you when it matters most.
